After interviewing Hailey, I have a better understanding of how Greystone Golf and Country Club uses technology. The Club uses a robust system called Jonas Club Software, which includes all the components listed. Hailey mentioned that clubs have been notorious for having outdated systems, but that is not the case at Greystone. Ms. Brown detailed some of the contactless options but emphasized that "the personal touch is still the heart of hospitality." When asked about the roadblocks to implementing new technology, she explained several examples she encounters. Here are just a few:

  • All technology needs to work on mobile phones, as most employees are not at a desk most of the day.

  • Technology needs to work for both English and Spanish-speaking employees.

  • The club need technology that works for all skill levels.

  • Most employees do not work on computers, making them harder to train and requiring ongoing retraining.

Hailey also mentioned the technology used in water conservation efforts for turf maintenance. Smart irrigation systems monitors temperature, moisture levels and grass type. These systems save time and money while also supporting water conservation.

The future of country clubs, as well as all hospitality industries, depends on new technology, but the human touch and face to face connections are the heart of hospitality.
