Written Work
Throughout my time as a Hospitality Management student at Auburn, I have developed a variety of writing samples that reflect my academic growth, industry knowledge, and professional communication skills. The pieces featured in this portfolio include projects focused on The Laurel Hotel, The Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa at Grand National, and a IT hospitality case study, each demonstrating my ability to analyze real-world hospitality operations, apply industry concepts, and communicate ideas effectively. These samples showcase my writing style, critical thinking, and passion for the hospitality industry. Each document is linked as a PDF.

During my Lodging Operations course, my classmates and I trained in all areas of The Laurel Hotel & Spa. The Laurel is a luxury hotel with a AAA Diamond designation. These areas of training included front of house, back of house, housekeeping, and laundry. Our group project was to give a presentation with each student taking one department and writing about their experience and presenting their portion of the presentation. My experience in the housekeeping department at The Laurel gave me a better understanding of everything that goes into creating a great guest experience. I learned that housekeeping is much more than cleaning rooms—it requires teamwork, organization, and attention to detail. This experience helped me appreciate the hard work that happens behind the scenes and showed me how every department plays an important role in making guests feel welcome and comfortable.
This case study helped me think more about my career goals and the role technology plays in the hospitality industry. It reinforced my interest in working in boutique destination hotels and resorts, while showing me how important IT systems are to daily operations. Learning about tools such as property management systems, restaurant management , and AI showed me that technology is essential for improving efficiency and creating a better guest experience. This project increased my understanding that combining strong hospitality skills with technology knowledge will help me succeed in my future career.
Another group project was presenting information of a hotel we were assigned in the Auburn area. Each group member selected their portion of the project. My portions was to review the website of the Auburn Marriott Opelika Resort & Spa. The details of a great website helped me see how important a hotel's website is for creating a good first impression. I learned that clear information, easy navigation, and good photos make it easier for guests to plan their stay. I also noticed that small details, like working social media links and updated pictures, can improve the guest experience. This assignment showed me how a strong online presence is an essential part of the hospitality industry.
